Kidnappers’ Den Uncovered on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Another kidnappers’ den has been uncovered on Tuesday 8th of August, around a canal at Obadeyi Area, Ijaiye road of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
A Lagos State Waste Management Agency woman who was on duty cleaning this area of the the road raised the alarm when she heard the voice of a woman calling for help from the canal.
Speaking on the incident, a resident, who said that as people maintained vigilance on kidnappers’ den uncovered at both sides, one of the suspects came out around 8am.
The resident said, “People asked him what he was doing in the canal, but he insisted he would not say anything about his mission there. They demanded to know the whereabouts of the woman calling for help; he said he would never divulge any information even if they killed him.
“Despite the beating he got, he didn’t disclose any information. Some angry boys put a tyre on him and set him ablaze. As the fire raged on, another suspect came out from the other end of the canal. He said they were about 20 in the canal. The policemen did not allow him to say more than that before they took him away. Around 12pm, two other persons fled from the canal. People chased and caught them. They were also rescued by the police.”
The alleged kidnapper who was arrested on Tuesday morning has been burnt alive by an angry mob.
PREMIUM TIMES reported the pandemonium caused by the arrest of the kidnapper after passers-by said they heard a cry for help by a female victim.
Officials of the Nigerian Army have arrived the scene and made efforts to control the mob.
Fire fighters have also arrived to control the fire, while pandemonium still pervades the area.
Search for the suspected victim is still ongoing as some soldiers and other security operatives plunge into the dark kidnappers’ den underneath the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
