5 Tips On Being A Good Christian Parent
Being a parent isn’t the easiest job in the world as it entails quite a number of things.
It is tough to be a parent, but being a good Christian parent is tougher. Not only do you have to work on being a good Christian every day, you also have to constantly think about how you can be good parent to your child.
Parenting is a 24/7 job and you can’t take a break. It’s a lifelong duty and obligation to your children. Sometimes, you will fall short but hey, life’s like that and there’s no giving up. Keep in mind that you, being a parent is part of God’s plans, and He knows you have what you need inside of you to make a great mother or father.
In this ever increasing age of ungodly TV programs and secular humanist education, the job of a christian parent is more difficult because the ways of the world are being instilled in your child, whether you like it or not.
It is your job as a christian parent to also instill the teachings of Christ in your child and teach them the word of God. God said in the book of Proverbs 22:6 ”Start children off on the way they should go,and even when they are old they will not turn from it”.
Here are a few tips on being a good christian parent;
1) Be A Good Example To Your Child
Teaching kids about right and wrong cannot be done by simply telling them what to do. Kids follow my example and you must be that example. You have to own this responsibility of being a role model to your child wherever you go and whatever time of day it is. This teaches a child that being good must be constant and not just when needed. 2) Be A Disciplinarian
As a good christian parent, you must always discipline your child. There’s simply no excuse for this. If you see your child doing something wrong, call him out on it.
The moment you do not discipline him, your child will think that what he’s doing is okay and he can get away with it easily. The Bible always talked about how parents must discipline and instruct their children so the kids can grow with respect and obedience to authority. Proverbs 13:24: “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.”

3) Take Your Child To Church
Instill Biblical values. Children are constantly hearing the world’s point of view. They must be taught God’s point of view. They must feel the love of Jesus from you.
As a Christian parent, it is your obligation to teach your child about God and bring him/her to church. It is vital to your child’s understand and faith that you start them young. Not only will they be immersed in a spiritual environment early on, but they will also see their mom and dad study the Word and worship the Lord. 4) Be A Friend To Your Child
When your child sees you as a friend, they become free with you and feel comfortable in confiding in you.
Know their interests. Take an interest in the things they find important. Clip magazine pictures or articles that interest them. Share their excitement.
Children long for a secure place in this fast-paced world. They find it most often in the warm embrace of a parent. As children grow, so does their need for acceptance and sense of belonging.
Such a need is met when you offer a hug, or a kind word, and expresses his appreciation and love for his children. But showing affection doesn’t stop there. Letting your children know that you love them requires a daily effort.
Contribute to their collections and hobbies. Join in their adventures. Meet their
friends. Meet their friend’s parents. Tell them that they are the wonderful treasure that God has blessed you with. Make time to be with them.
Notice when they grow. Help them mature into fine adults by giving them good
biblical instruction. You can better prepare them for life by teaching them godly
principles and the more comfortable they will be out in the real world.
