Foluke Otoge Unveils Interdenominational Mass Choir, GOGATOFO
Ahead of the planned maiden activation night and rehearsal of The Gospel Of God According To Foluke Otoge (GOGATOFO); organizer of the project, Prophetess Foluwakemi Olonimoyo (Foluke Otoge) has revealed that more churches, choirs and artistes are joining the choir.
The singer, violinist and songwriter who is a proud member of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) also hinted that musicians from many countries around the world have signified interest in the project.
In an exclusive interview with Seun Awosika, Otoge also spoke to Ecclezzia.com about the many benefits of joining the GOGATOFO, God’s vision for the choir and the false impression many Christians have about white garment churches. Excerpts;
Ecclezzia: How best can we describe Foluke Olonimoyo and what she does?
Foluke Otoge: Foluwakemi Olonimoyo is a minstrel in the vine yard of God, a performing gospel artiste and a performing gospel violinist, song writer, vocal coach convener of The Gospel Of God According To Foluke Otoge (GOGATOFO) and CEO of House of Ajike.
Ecclezzia: It seems you live music; but who found what? Music found you or you found music?
Foluke Otoge: Well…music found me… Took hold of me since birth!
Ecclezzia: So, officially, how long has it been?
Foluke Otoge: I started singing officially 2010 but, I have been in the choir all my life
Ecclezzia: Oh great! Tell us about some of your songs and perhaps album.
Foluke Otoge: Well my first gospel hit was ‘Otoge’ meaning peace be still. The revelation came to me on my birthday August 25th 2016 where the Holy Spirit directed me to the book of Mark 4:39. Then in December same year, I compiled ‘Otoge’ in a CD with ‘Obatikolafiwe’ (Incomparable God), the hit track I dropped at the 2008 Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) together with the live performances and studio rehearsals.
Then in January, we shot the video for ‘Otoge’ which is now playing on youtube. In February, I dropped ‘Ori’, a track that interprets the supernatural destiny of mankind. Around Easter, precisely 1st of April, I dropped ‘Oludande’ (My Deliverer Lives) which talks about the power of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My most recent track is ‘Restore Us Lord’, a track dedicated to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC). It was released in July.
Ecclezzia: Apart from these songs, in what other ways are you using your talents to preach the gospel?
Foluke Otoge: Presently I run an interdenominational mass choir G.O.G.A.T.O.F.O which means The Gospel Of God According To Foluke Otoge. It is an organization for musically inclined Christians who believe strongly in the power of unified worship and Praise of God. Our maiden rehearsal and activation night will be on the 30th of August 2017 at CCC, Pillar of Covenant Parish at 32, old Olowora Road, Opposite Old NEPA office, Isheri, Ojodu-Berger. It is also an academy of learning any branch of music.
Ecclezzia: Interesting, so how can desiring musicians join this wonderful movement, and what is there to gain when they join?
Foluke Otoge: The form is available online via our whatsapp group link or visit our blog; gogatofomasschoir.blogspot; Or just attend the August 30th activation night from 7pm. First of all, there will be free vocal training by Foluke Otoge and other great musicologist in Nigeria, music instrument training by professionals, and a certificate of professionalism in any field of music you get from the academy.
There would also be an opportunity to perform and rehearse world standard musical piece of different genre of music and from different Christian denominations; gospel artiste discovery and branding; free and Constant Avenue for rehearsal for self development and growth; and lots more as music is a wide field where learning is a daily thing.
Ecclezzia: I believe it is absolutely free to join?
Foluke Otoge: Yes it is but, you have to get the academy ID card with N1000 after being activated as a member
Ecclezzia: So, what are your future dreams, especially for GOGATOFO?
Foluke Otoge: The future of GOGATOFO is in the hands of God but, we hope to be the the certified mass choir not just for Christendom but for Nigeria, and her representatives in other countries worldwide…In Jesus name
Ecclezzia: Can you mention some of the churches, ministries and choirs that have shown interest in GOGATOFO?
Foluke Otoge: CCC, RCCG, Deeper Life, Christ Embassy, Cherubim and Seraphim; this is the maiden edition, we hope to reach out to more denominations before for major rehearsals.
Ecclezzia: I know some interested gospel musicians may still be doubtful that such a big idea is coming from a Celestial Church member. What would be your message to such people?
Foluke Otoge: Being Celestian doesn’t mean I’m not a Christian powered and filled with the Holy Spirit… And according to the book of 1 Corinthians 12; the spiritual gift of God is controlled by one spirit. So, we all have one altar, and also CCC is not an occult group as some pentecostal members have said to me.
The truth is that a cracked wall in Christianity has given room to the kingdom of darkness to penetrate thereby, creating denominational discrimination. Besides, anyone who stands on the pulpit to negate another Christian congregation is an instrument of the devil to create division within Christianity.
I am a Celestian and a Christian and I strongly believe in the power of unity that’s why God chose me to direct this vision (GOGATOFO). A country could come together to build a tower of Babel because they were united; imagine what a unified praise and worship can do. If the people of Babel had an intention to use the tower for edification of God’s kingdom instead of personal gain, God would have crowned their efforts with success. So, it is not an idea, it is a vision from God and we will not stop until we achieve the number stated by God. God is a God of unity that is why He said ‘let us create…’; Of course he could do it alone but, because He understands the power of unity, He said let us. Unity and that’s our driving force
Ecclezzia: Before we began this interview, you told me about members of GOGATOFO in the UK, Canada and the US. Please share more on that
Foluke Otoge: There are activated members from US, UK, Dubai and Ivory coast who saw our advert and on line registration process and showed interest immediately
Ecclezzia: Are there any sponsors for the event?
Foluke Otoge: None…it’s God that is sponsoring the event
Ecclezzia: What would be your final message to Christians in general about GOGATOFO?
Foluke Otoge: It is a citadel of learning and a place for constant rehearsals for personal musical growth and constant communication with God. As a minstrel in the vineyard.. It is also a revolution to create a place for denominational unification of praise and worship… In love and devotion. Thank you
