Has God really promised you something(s) and you think it’s never going to happen (because it doesn’t look like it at the minute)? Have you ever been discouraged or disheartened because the events you expect to take place in your life have not happened yet? Have you been told by people around you or in fact, people close to you that your dreams can never come to pass?
Reading Hebrews 11:11 just brings an understanding that when God promises something; He brings to pass that which He has promised. He is not limited by our circumstances or our feelings rather He does that which He alone can do and at his own time. Sarah was promised a child for a long time but the child did not come through till she was really old. This means that it (the promise of a child) did not come at a time she wanted it to come or at a time when she was eager to have a child. The child came when God wanted him to come. Yes! God’s time is the best, it always is! It might look like a delay to us but He knows it all and makes things happen at the RIGHT TIME.
The part that really struck me about Hebrews 11:11 is the fact that: “Sarah judged God faithful who had promised”. Although she had to wait for a long time, she knew God was faithful and was going to give her a child in His own time. Remember the scripture that says: God’s ways are not our ways? The things we want or that God has promised might not come at the time we want them (because we do not even know what’s ‘best’ for us and at what time it is ‘best’), but they would surely come at the time God sees/knows it is best for us.
What are we expected to do? God wants us to judge Him faithful who has promised. Nothing is too difficult for God and nothing is impossible for Him to do. We recite this scripture many times without really taking into account what it means.
God will do those things He promised to you privately and in His word if we will judge Him FAITHFUL… What does judging Him faithful mean? It means holding on to the word/promise that God has given us and not wavering or at some point or the other disbelieving that He would do it. Remember, though it tarries, it will surely come to pass (Habakuk 2:3)
Do not be discouraged, disheartened or disappointed! Also, do not let the things happening around you make you lose sight of all the promises that God has given to you. Do not give up, rather trust God! Numbers 23:19 – “God is not a man that He should lie…Has he said, and will He not do?…”. His promise(s) will surely come to pass as long as you wait patiently and judge him faithful.
